Facebook is banning private sales of guns on its flagship social network and its Instagram photo-sharing service

A move meant to clamp down on unlicensed gun transactions. Facebook already prohibits people from offering marijuana, pharmaceuticals and illegal drugs for sale, and the company said on Friday that it was updating its policy to include guns. The ban applies to private, person-to-person sales of guns. Licensed gun dealers and gun clubs can still maintain Facebook pages and post on Instagram. Although Facebook was not directly involved in gun sales, it has served as a forum for gun sales to be negotiated, without people having to undergo background checks. The social network, with 1.6 billion monthly visitors, had become one of the world's largest marketplaces for guns and was increasingly evolving into an e-commerce site where it could facilitate transactions of goods. The ban thrusts Facebook into the center of another major societal debate. Discussions over gun control have flared anew after the mass shootings last year in San Bernardino, Calif., and a community college in Oregon, among others. In January, President Obama gave a speech promising to tighten enforcement of laws governing unlicensed gun sales. In response, some individual sellers said they would turn to sites like Facebook, which allowed them to freely advertise guns for sale. Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook's chief executive. Facebook said it would rely on its vast network of users to report any violations of the new rules, and would remove any post that violated the policy. If the company believed someone's life was in danger, Facebook would work with law enforcement on the situation.

The Rivers state-born comedy veteran, who aspired to be Governor of the state but later reportedly opted out few weeks to the primaries in the 2015 general elections in Nigeria, told Nigeriafilms.com that ‘Nigerian is in a serious mess.’
The rib cracker, while giving his reason, explained, “I’ll never do politics again. I’m now fully into comedy evangelism and entertainment.
“Nigeria is in serious mess. I know Buhari has a mission and the present situation of the economy is affecting all of us. I believe we should feel the pains now and enjoy the dividends later.”

I hate religion, I will never go to church

Music legend and Cock Crow at Dawn crooner, a classic NTA TV series programme, Chief Bongos Ikwue has explained why he hates religion and will never go to church.

The singer who has several hits including Still Searching, Maryam and a host of others has a guiding mantra that says, ‘the only sin is laziness, the only religion is hard work.”
Ikwue, a native of Otukpo, Benue State in a chat with DAILY POST, opined that religion is the reason for the universal unrest and if possible, should be banned.
The singer who is currently working on a net studio effort entitled, Bongos Ikwue 2016 says he won’t retire until God calls him home.
His words: “I have never doubted he existence of God. I believe in God but I hate religion. I don’t go to church because it has become a business venture.
“Don’t go give a cheque of N300m to a church and expect that God is so happy and clapping because He has not seen money.

“So, will money take me to heaven or it is meant to stop on this earth?
“Those who will not listen to people like me will pay the price; they will remain gullible and the price is remain in your poverty because you are not thinking or using your head.”
On when he intends to retire, the country music legend said, “maybe when God says it is over. I don’t retire. I work round the clock because I hate laziness.”

Idris Elba Says Filming ‘Beasts Of No Nation’ Nearly Killed Him

The actor almost perished during the filming of a very real, very dangerous scene.
Writer/director Cary Fukunaga’s “Beasts Of No Nation” premiered on Netflix in October with Idris Elba as its leading man. The recently announced “Star Trek Beyond” actor plays the leader of a child soldier regiment named “Commandant,” but he apparently almost didn’t make it to the end of the film at all.
No, not the character — Elba himself.
“I nearly died,” Elba recently told The Jonathan Ross Show, as The Guardian reports. “We went to this waterfall and in this scene my character is standing there watching all the child soldiers go past. Now in the setup of that, the stunt co-ordinator says, ‘Listen everyone, this is a waterfall, that’s a 90-, 100-foot drop down there and the ground is very slippery, just be careful!’”

With the addition of Keith Urban, the new lineup looks a bit more like NBC’s popular The Voice which features country star Blake Shelton as one of the judges. The Voice is currently the hippest karaoke show on network TV. It beat former Idol judge Simon Cowell‘s new show, The X Factor, in a head to head ratings battle last week.
But as I’ve argued before, I don’t think it’s the judges that are going to save Idol. The show rarely lives up to its promise of finding an actual pop star and I’m not sure that even Nicki Minaj can change that. The best she can do is make the process more interesting.

Motion Picture Association and China's Taobao sign agreement to fight piracy

Chinese e-commerce powerhouse Taobao and the Motion Picture Association (MPA) have announced the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding that commits the online marketplace to better enforcement of audio-visual intellectual property rights.
Often billed as the Chinese eBay, Taobao has led consumer ecommerce adoption in China. Its parent company, Alibaba, also operates a successful business-to-business online market. However, Taobao received some criticism early on because of loose restrictions on copyrighted works. Don Jazzy agrees that Eedris Abdulkareem is the reason why artistes are getting paid today
