It was gathered that the gunmen who were trailing the politician snatched the vehicle at gun point and shot sporadically into the air to scare away traders along the Dutsima street in Tudun Wada, Kaduna.
It was further gathered that the gunmen later released the girl. The victim, who was an ACN candidate for the 2011 Kaduna State House of Assembly election, told our correspondent that the gunmen attacked her while she was inserting the key into the ignition.
"I raised my head to discover a man pointing a pistol at me. He ordered me to come down from the car and hand over the keys quietly. It was around 10:30pm, shortly after I left my neighbour's shop which is very close to my house.
"They ordered me to leave behind my two phones and my daughter who was lying on the back seat of the car. I begged them to allow me take my daughter, but they refused. They later freed my daughter after several calls made to them through my phone pleading for her release.
"After a while, they switched off my phone, but we thank God that my daughter was released without any harm. We have been experiencing so many criminal activities in this area, and we call on the authorities to do something about it," she said.
Spokesperson of the Kaduna State Police Command, DSP Aminu Lawal, confirmed the incident, saying the motorcycle abandoned by the gunmen is with the police, and that investigation into the matter has already commenced.
