THE Uwakwe family in Abuja has been thrown into distress, following the kidnap of Mrs Justina Uwakwe, on Monday. Mrs Uwakwe was said to have been abducted between the hours of 7.00 p.m and 8.00 p.m at AMAC Estate, off Airport Road, Abuja. Her abductors were said to have demanded a ransom of N25 million before she would be released.
The victim, said to be a staff of the National Assembly, was believed to have been dragged out of her Toyota Sienna car and taken to unknown place When her car was found at Sabo Lugbe area, her GSM handset, shoes and handbag were intact.
Though there was no official confirmation from the police, an officer disclosed that investigation was ongoing,
in a related development, the first son of a Supreme Court justice, Justice Olabode Rhodes-Viviour, Rotimi, has been reportedly kidnapped in Lagos, on Monday.
Nigerian Tribune learnt that he was kidnapped while driving around Island, but reportedly traced by police detectives to Festac Town, where the kidnappers are reportedly holed up Rotimi was said to be driving in his car when he was blocked by the kidnappers, who were reportedly trailing him with another car, before being taken along with his car, his car was reportedly abandoned in another part of the state, which the police had reportedly found and taken possession of.
A source in Lagos disclosed that the kidnappers had established contacts with the family and demanded N30 million ransom. The police are said to be on top of the situation and had advised against negotiating with the kidnappers.
Meanwhile, the court vacation would end next week, with the new legal year commencing on September 12.
Activities marking the new legal year would include the swearing-in of the new 25 legal practitioners recently appointed Senior Advocates of Nigeria by the Legal Practitioners Privileges Committee.
