Governor Orji requested amnesty for ex-militants, not kidnappers - Aide

The Governor of Abia State, Chief T.A. Orji has denied media reports that he put forward a demand for amnesty to be granted to 5000 ex-kidnappers.
A statement sent to DailyPost by the Special Assistant on e-Governor and Strategy, Nnaji Obed Asiegbu, denied the purported request by the Governor, describing it as “totally false and wicked.”
“The story is a figment of imagination of whoever concocted it,” he said.
“The real position is that the Governor of Abia State demanded for Amnesty to be extended to ex-Militants/Agitators from Abia State and not kidnappers.”

Asiegbu noted that Abia State is within the Niger Delta region and as such, suffers the same economic, environmental and social injustice done to other Niger Delta states.
He added that his boss’s demand for amnesty for ex-militants/agitators from Abia is “absolutely fair.”
