police and the media among other stakeholders, said the fight against corruption must be won in order for Nigeria to survive as a nation and as a people. In a statement issued at the end of their first plenary meeting at the Archbishop's House in Kaduna on January 19, they however stressed that the battle must be won in a way and manner that does not distort the human dignity.
"A successful war against corruption must leave our nation stronger and committed to the path of justice and development. Amidst the turmoil in our country, it is easy to get lost in despair. While trying to clear the fog from the murderous deaths and displacements that our people have suffered in the last few years in the hands of Boko Haram, the nation has awoken to the even more horrendous news of the systemic and mind-bugling loot of the nation's treasury.
"What is most tragic about all this is the seeming correlation between the loss of these resources and equally horrible news that our soldiers went to the battlefront totally ill-equipped. This is just the beginning of what promises to be a momentous phase in the history of the nation's struggle to regain its soul through the fight against corruption," the statement signed by Most Rev. Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, Archbishop of Kaduna Metropolitan KEP and Most Rev. John Namaza Niyiring, Bishop of Kano and Secretary of KEP, also said. They called on the state governments to open up clear channels between the faith communities, especially in the area of education and collaboration.
