Wike has reacted to the Supreme Court judgement

Mr Nyesome Wike has reacted to the Supreme Court judgement that returned him as the Governor of Rivers State. He described it as victory for the people of Rivers State. In a state broadcast in the state Government House on Thursday, Governor Wike expressed gratitude to those that stood with him during the seven-month court battle. He promised to stay committed to providing the dividends of democracy to the people of Rivers State. The deputy governorship candidate of the APC during the April 11 governorship election, Honourable Asita, however, expressed his disappointment.
He told Channels Television that while the Supreme Court remains the highest court in the land and its decision binding on all, he was worried by the public perception of those who witnessed the election in the state and the way the election was conducted. The Supreme Court on Wednesday upheld the election of Nyesom Wike as the Governor of Rivers State with the reason for the judgement to be listed on February 12. Giving the ruling, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, set aside the judgement of the Appeal Court which nullified the election of Governor Wike.It was a unanimous judgement by a seven-man panel of the apex court which also affirmed the election of Senator Ibikunle Amosun as the duly elected Governor of Ogun State and Governor David Umahi of Ebonyi State.
